On 24 February 2025, an Embraer 190 aircraft with registration SX-PTM landed at Bydgoszcz Airport. The machine belongs to Greek company Marathon Airlines and is leased by Nigerian airline United Nigeria, which operates domestic flights on routes such as Abuja-Lagos, Kano-Enugu and other key destinations in Nigeria.
Although the flight to Bydgoszcz was scheduled, the aircraft was initially diverted to Warsaw due to difficult weather conditions. Only after they improved did it land safely at Bydgoszcz Airport S.A.
The SX-PTM is another machine from the Marathon Airlines fleet that has been sent to Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze No. 2 S.A. for technical overhaul. Previously, aircraft such as the SX-ASK, SX-MTO and SX-KAA were serviced in Bydgoszcz. It is planned that the maintenance work will last approximately two weeks, after which the machine will return to service.
Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 2 S.A. in Bydgoszcz is consistently developing its capabilities in the field of civil aircraft maintenance. As a result, aircraft from outside the regular flight schedule, including those from distant and exotic regions of the world such as Nigeria and Kenya, are becoming increasingly frequent at the airport. This is further evidence of Bydgoszcz’s growing position as an important service centre in the aviation sector.
